All our products are sold out and we will not produce new spreads until further notice.
In March 2021, Seda Gärtig founded Sedas Plantekøkken. Since then, an amazing team has joined her, sharing her vision and providing wholehearted support.
Founder
“Hi, I am Seda! I turn nuts, chickpeas, seeds, and dried fruits into delicious, wholesome spreads. I am an industrial engineer who now works in the field of innovation. My goal is to give you the best spread experience possible and refute the myth that eating plant-based is dull!”
Food has always been an important part of my culture, who I am, and how I express my love for others. As a child in Turkey, I used to spend countless hours in my grandmother’s kitchen, trying out recipes and cooking various meals for the whole family to sit down and enjoy. Curiosity and creativity defined me, and the love of sharing with those closest to me was the driving force – and still is!
In 2017, I said goodbye to meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products, and hello to chickpeas, nuts, vegetables, fruits, and tofu. I’ve been a proud vegan since then. One of my favorite things about this lifestyle is exploring and developing new, flavourful plant-based recipes that people can enjoy. And spreads are one of my strongest culinary skills.
Spreads have definitely always been my weakness, especially the sweet ones. However, once I became a vegan, whenever I needed a quick fix, I couldn’t find any healthy spreads on store shelves that matched my new principles.
So, one day, the idea struck: surely, it must be possible to make a delicious, yet nourishing spread without the need to add oil and refined sugar. I’m used to coming up with creative ideas, making plans, and figuring out how to do things as an engineer. That, combined with my drive and interest in food, made it natural for me to begin creating my own spread recipes.
The first ingredients in my blender were chickpeas, nuts, and dried fruits. Like a wizard, I stood in the kitchen, much like I used to stand in my grandmother’s kitchen as a child, experimenting and adjusting to create the spreads of my dreams. Friends would come over for brunch and eagerly try my plant-based spreads, and I would share my recipes on Instagram to inspire others.
And so, here we are! — After much encouragement, hustle, testing, and hard work, I have turned my passion into a full-fledged business offering unique twists on classic spreads like hummus and nut butter. Spreads that are flavourful and high in proteins and healthy fat. Spreads that taste like the natural ingredients they were made with.
I love healthy, tasteful spreads, and I love making people happy eating my spreads. Oh, and I’m really happy that you are here!

Sedas Plantekøkken offers unique twists on classic hummus and nut butter. We’re working hard to reinvent the Danish spread market by introducing new flavors, so you can have the best plant-based spread experience possible. We have used (and still do) focus groups along the way to test and help improve our spreads.
Nuts, seeds, chickpeas, and dried fruits are the natural and nourishing ingredients we use instead of filling our products with added oil and refined sugar. We freeze our hummus products in their natural state to preserve their freshness while retaining their valuable nutrients.
We try not to be disrespectful to Mother Earth because we care about her so much. Our contribution to the transition to a green economy is based on our plant-based spreads made with organic ingredients (whenever possible). Furthermore, we serve our spreads in reusable glass jars to reduce the amount of plastic we use in our daily operations. We have procedures in place to reduce waste and reuse materials as much as possible.
